The event at Alaba Rago recorded a large turnout of participants from different Buhari support groups across the country. President Buhari The organisers led by Sarkin Yakin President, Alhaji A.A. Mai Agogo, included Alhaji Umar Sokoto, Sarkin Alaba Rago Market and National Chairman, Alhaj Adamu Umar Katagun, had as part of the programme of the event, a walk from Alaba Rago to Okoko Bus Stop escorted by several police vehicles. Speaking at the event, Alhaji Sokoto, said they wanted to publicly support President Buhari in his several policies as president including the removal of fuel subsidy, the disbandment of Boko Haram insurgency; recovering of looted funds at home and abroad; approval of 34 Federal roads projects nationwide; overhauling of the NNPC; diversification of the economy, among others. According to Sokoto, “We want to use the opportunity of Democracy Day to express our solidarity with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State. We support their leadership and the policies they are propounding for the people and would plead with the Nigerian masses to support them, irrespective of ethnic or religious differences”. He said though there was suffering in the land today, Nigerians should be hopeful of a better tomorrow.
